I've always had oily skin, and break outs. As a teenager, I washed my face with Ivory soap and it worked. Over the course of the last ten years, my skin has taken on a ruddy hue, and I have struggled with treating it so that it was more even. A lot of harsh cleaners stripped my skin, making it even oilier.
From what I understand, the more you strip your skin of oil, the more oils it produces to compensate. I have heard a lot of good things about the oil cleansing method, with specific use of coconut oil. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it out.
I used the coconut oil as a base for a facial scrub, to which I added an equal part sugar, and about half a part of lavender buds and some lemon balm. I've been using this exclusively for almost a month, now. This is what I have found...
-My skin looks and feels healthier than it ever has. I use the scrub once a day, working it into my skin, then splashing my face in warm water and patting dry with a clean towel. At first, my skin will feel slightly oily, but it does not take long for the coconut oil to soak into the skin.
-I have had no break outs. Weird, huh, since its oil?! Even the skin on my chest isn't breaking out, and we've already started into 90 degree weather!
-The blotchiness has settled down, quite a bit. My skin tone is starting to even out. Its not perfect, but I don't know that that will ever happen. I am keeping my fingers crossed, however!
Overall, I am very satisfied with the results of this cleansing method.
